22nd January 2019

Hello all,
we've had a great start to 2019 especially with all the hot weather!

In week one we started vac care off with an excursion to Adelaide Oval. We traveled by train to the city and walked across the bridge to the oval. On our tour we saw the change rooms, went inside the old scoreboard and went to the highest seats in the stadium.

We then had two home days, where we watched 'Little Big Shots' International film festival for kids. The video clips promoted various values and themes linked to friendship, imagination and problem solving through co-operation. The following day we decorated biscuits with lollies and icing to make faces with an assortment of emotions.

On Thursday we went to Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary in Mylor, unfortunately it was a very hot day, but with our hats and sunscreen we were okay. We walked through the park and saw wallabies, baby emus, koala's and lots of turtles! Inside afterwards we were able to look and touch two snakes and stumpy tail lizard- who decided to go to the bathroom right it the middle of the demonstration!

In Week 2 we've already been to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens via the train and the new tram service. We saw the HUGE number of bats that are in the trees off Frome Road in the parkland's. We played in the parkland adjacent to the garden for recess and had fun climbing in the trees. We then ventured inside and visited the cactus glasshouse, the pond (which was full of big turtles and ducks) and the lotus pond.

We are very much looking forward to the rest of the Vac Care, unfortunately it is predicted to be  45 degrees on Thursday. Unless it is a day of Catastrophic fire danger we will be open as usual. The CFS will announce the fire danger rating after 4:30 pm on Wednesday. If we are closed all parents with bookings for Thursday will be notified and no charges will apply. It is school policy that on days of Catastrophic fire danger no one is allowed on school property.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 29th of January 2019, when school returns.

Thanks from Tori and the OSHC team
